Escape From Alcatraz to a Brand New Body

It’s a new year and, if you’re like most women, sculpting a sexy, new body is at the very top of your 2013 wish list. It’s hard work, we know, but it’s not impossible. The trick is to make it fun!

Here’s one way to do that. Head on over to Alcatraz, the Bay Area’s island prison come tourist trap, and lace up your sneakers for this year’s Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon!

You’d better bring your A-game though.  IMG Worldwide recently announced that 2012 Ironman Champions Leanda Cave (pictured) and Pete Jacobs will be competing this year too.  In fact, Cave and Jacobs will lead a field of nearly 40 professional athletes set to compete in this well-known San Francisco triathlon, including 2012 Olympian Sara Groff (from the USA) and 2008 Olympian Ricarda Lisk (from Germany).

“Having the current Ironman Champions both competing this year is sure to intensify the level of competition among the pro field,” said IMG Senior Vice President James Leitz. “This is an extremely impressive list of athletes, which will create some serious excitement at this year’s race.”

Don’t be intimidated, though. Aside from these mega-athletes, more than 2,000 everyday people from around the globe will also participate so grab some girlfriends and sign up!

The race features a 1.5 mile swim from Alcatraz Island to the shore, an 18-mile bike race, and an 8-mile run through San Francisco.

Bonus: Even if you finish in last place, imagine all the eye candy you’re sure to see. Scratch that– especially if you’re in last place!
